The MBA (Master of Business Administration) and BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) titles have many things in common. Both are non-academic professional titles written after a person’s name, indicating an expansion of knowledge gained primarily through higher education with practical skills that can be easily applied in real-life practice. Both titles are commonly used abroad, and their popularity is also growing in the Czech Republic.

Is a lower or higher level right for you?

Although both titles are beneficial for their holders, earning an MBA degree ultimately means more than earning a BBA. The BBA title can be partially compared to the Czech bachelor’s degree, which is a lower level of academic education and is generally followed by further studies leading to a master’s degree. The BBA is similar in this respect – it represents a lower level of further professional education, and its benefits are therefore significantly lower than those of an MBA. For managers and people from the business world, it has little practical value, as it only narrowly supplements their existing knowledge.

The BBA is recommended primarily for applicants with secondary education who want to gain basic practical knowledge. For applicants with higher education, especially in marketing, business, and middle or top management, this title does not carry much significance.

The value of an MBA degree is naturally higher on the job market as well. A BBA title practically does not give job applicants any advantage over traditional university graduates. An MBA, on the other hand, is a clear impulse that increases a candidate’s attractiveness. In many international companies, an MBA degree is even a prerequisite for entering middle or senior management positions – unlike a BBA.

Why is an MBA than a BBA?

  • With an MBA, you have a much higher chance of obtaining a quality job
  • An MBA provides deeper knowledge applicable in practice
  • An MBA jump-starts your career growth
  • An MBA carries greater weight internationally
  • An MBA is a key to your personal development

Today, studying BBA programs is almost unnecessary, especially when it is possible to obtain an MBA degree in various fields within a single year. In-depth knowledge of the subject matter, greater respect among subordinates and colleagues, more comprehensive thinking, increased attractiveness on the job market, career growth, and overall personal development are just a fraction of what you gain with an MBA degree rather than a BBA.
